An immortal bound to a mortal by terms neither of them set, a production spending real money on longing, and a mythology treated as fate rather than as mechanics. If the crossing and the fated pull were the draw, this is the version where the emotional logic clicks. Difference: no parallel state and no politics, and the mythology carries the feeling instead of the plotting.

Slow start Episode 8. Everything before it is mood, rules and comedy, and the buildup asks for real patience. From episode 8 the show stops explaining itself and starts spending.

Two worlds, one fated pair, and rules stated out loud. Same pleasure of a powerful man from somewhere else and a woman who refuses to be managed by him, and the same insistence that the pairing was settled before either of them turned up. Difference: horror-leaning at pace 4, with graphic content and no royalty or court politics anywhere in it.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the two brothers share a scene. Their rivalry is the engine.

An outsider man, a secret he cannot explain, and gloss that never lets up. Same fantasy romance built on a lead who does not belong here and a deadline attached to staying, and the same comfort 4 register underneath the spectacle. Difference: comedy-forward and contemporary, with mechanics simple enough to stop being a problem.

Slow start Episode 3, once she moves in next door and the bickering starts.

Crossing time, and paying for it. Same appetite for a romance that spans a boundary and a lead who keeps choosing the other person over the timeline, and it sets out its rules once and then keeps to them. Difference: youth and music at comfort 4, with no court, no doubles and no solemnity.

Hooks early Episode 2, the first jump back. Be warned: the lead's fan-girl register in the first two episodes is a lot to take, and it settles around episode 6.

Royalty, duty, and a romance that is a political problem. Same pleasure of a crown that makes love expensive, the same palace machinery arranged around it, and a young monarch worth watching carry it. Difference: Joseon rather than an alternate present, no fantasy at all, and the comedy is much broader.

Hooks early Episode 1. The disguise and the meeting are both set up immediately.

Fate as the engine, again. Same premise that two people are bound across a boundary the world does not accept, and the same slow insistence that being recognised matters more than being explained. Difference: reincarnation rather than parallel worlds, contemporary and small, and a quiet melodrama instead of a spectacle.

Hooks early Episode 1, which is the best hour of the twelve. The premise is fully loaded before the first credits roll.
