A king from a parallel Korea, a detective in ours, and a mythology that is announced rather than demonstrated. It is a Kim Eun Sook production and it looks like one, with an 8.2 from 74,771 ratings and 142,114 watchers, and Woo Do Hwan playing two versions of the same man is the single best reason to watch it. The rules of the crossing change whenever the plot needs them to, the middle is homework, and Lee Min Ho spends too much of it explaining the premise to Kim Go Eun. It rewards patience and a loose grip on the mechanics, and it punishes anyone who wants the science fiction to hold up.

Slow start Episode 4, once both worlds are on screen together and crossing between them finally costs somebody something.
