The closest structural match in the genre. An immortal tethered to a place by an old debt, a mortal who walks in and starts costing her something, and a supporting cast of the dead who each get one perfect episode. Same lush production, and the same old contract sitting underneath the romance. Difference: grief-comedy rather than fate-comedy, and the female lead drives everything.

Slow start Episode 3, once the hotel staff get histories of their own.

Korean folklore played straight, a centuries-old being in a modern city, and a love that keeps getting reincarnated into worse circumstances. Faster and pulpier than Goblin, with a brother rivalry that is the best thing in it. Difference: it pays a lower emotional price, and it is far less willing to let its own mythology hurt anybody.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the two brothers share a scene. Their rivalry is the engine.

If the part you loved was the world: sworn fates, a magic system with actual rules, and an ensemble that turns into a family. The Hong sisters write comedy into every scene the mythology will allow. Difference: thirty episodes across two parts, twenty then ten, and it is written to be watched as one run.

Slow start Episode 3, once the training arc starts and the ensemble locks in.

Kim Eun-sook again, and the one to watch if what got you was the imagery and the doomed grandeur rather than the fantasy. Every frame is composed, every love is on a clock. Difference: no supernatural escape hatch, so nothing that happens can be undone by a change in the rules.

Slow start Episode 5, once all three men circling her are in play. The opening hours are a history lesson, and the real barrier is the writing register: the dialogue is elliptical and the flashbacks last seconds, and that is where it either has you or loses you.

The same premise with the immortality relocated to another planet: he has waited centuries, she has one lifetime, and the comedy is what keeps it bearable. Difference: much sillier by design, and the fantasy is a comic engine rather than a debt.

Goblin is secretly a show about what a death leaves behind in a room. This is that thread with the fantasy stripped out entirely: two people clearing the homes of the newly dead. Ten episodes, no romance, and the single cleanest hit of that specific ache. Difference: no fantasy, no comic ensemble and no sweep. It is documentary-plain where Goblin is operatic.
