The closest thing to a direct replacement that exists. A hospice team granting last wishes, a lead who does not want to be saved, and the same weekly structure of one stranger's life closed out with care. Both are loosely rooted in real practice. Difference: it is more conventionally plotted and its lead gets a redemption arc, where Geu-ru is never treated as a problem to be fixed.

Slow start Episode 3, once the hospice wish-granting team is fully assembled.

The right answer for the register rather than the premise. Same interest in ordinary people carrying unbearable weight without announcing it, same restraint, same refusal to hand over catharsis on schedule. Difference: sixteen episodes and no case structure. It accumulates instead of resetting every hour.

Slow start Episode 4 is the turn. Before that it just looks bleak.

Grim reapers whose actual job is preventing suicides, told case by case. It comes at the same subject from the opposite side: not what a death leaves behind in a room, but the hour before it. Difference: fantasy premise, sixteen episodes, and a much wider tonal range, including comedy that sits oddly next to this.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the case-of-the-week structure clicks into place.

The other great autistic lead, and the light to Move to Heaven's dark. Episodic, warm, and equally careful not to write its protagonist as a lesson for anybody. Difference: it is a comfort show. Where Move to Heaven asks you to sit with a death every episode, Woo hands you a whale.

Hooks early Episode 1. The whale and the revolving door do the entire job inside twenty minutes.

Two people at opposite ends of a life deciding to be responsible for each other, shot with the same still camera and the same interest in dignity over plot. Difference: no death of the week and no institutional anger. It is smaller and considerably kinder to you.

Hooks early Episode 2, the first proper lesson. It is a two-hander from there.

For the social-commentary half. Six episodes chasing military deserters, each one a portrait of somebody the system had already broken. Same method: one stranger per episode, no easy resolution offered. Difference: it is angry rather than tender, and the violence is explicit.

Hooks early Episode 1. Six episodes, and the first deserter case establishes the entire pattern.

If you want the grief-of-the-week structure with the weight taken off. A pojangmacha where the owner settles other people's unfinished business, twelve episodes, found family, jokes. Difference: it is a fantasy comfort watch. Nobody is going to be destroyed, including you.
