Older characters given interiority instead of a comic function, and the same understanding that a late-life decision is a real decision. Difference: it is an ensemble rather than a two-hander, there is no young man being taught anything, and it is blunter about dying.

Slow start Episode 3, once the friend group's shared history stops being backstory.

The comparison worth answering: same register, more weight. Both are about an older person and a younger one who save each other without ever saying so, and both refuse to make that romantic. Difference: it is heavier, has an office conspiracy running through it, and asks for pace 1 patience. If you finished Navillera feeling whole, expect to finish this one flattened.

Slow start Episode 4 is the turn. Before that it just looks bleak.

A young man and an older guardian, and work as a form of dignity. Same central pairing of somebody learning from somebody with limited time, and the same refusal to sentimentalise either. Difference: ten episodes, each built around a death and the room it left behind, at heavy 5, so it is colder and far sadder.

Hooks early Episode 1 already tells you exactly what the show is.

Na Moon Hee again, and a whole life taken seriously. Same belief that an ordinary person's decades are worth filming and the same insistence that kindness is the interesting choice. Difference: it spans generations and it is a marriage story, so it builds toward loss rather than toward one late achievement.

Hooks early Episode 2, where the childhood section pays off.

Age, time and the life that did not happen. Same subject of a body that will not do what its owner wants, handled with jokes as often as tears. Difference: heavy 5, and it is a much harder and stranger watch.

Slow start Episode 4. Sit with the confusion, it is doing work.

Mortality with the jokes left in. Same insistence that somebody near the end stays specific and annoying rather than becoming a lesson. Difference: crude, road-trip shaped, and the tenderness is buried under bickering, so there is no equivalent of the studio scenes here.

Hooks early Episode 1. The diagnosis and the kidnapped bride both land immediately, so the road trip starts at once.
