An immortal bound to a mortal by terms neither of them chose. Same grand fated-romance register, same gloss, and the same idea that a supernatural man's entire existence turns on one specific human being. Difference: the mythology is much bigger and properly built, the comedy is real, and the second pair carries as much weight as the leads.

Slow start Episode 8. Everything before it is mood, rules and comedy, and the buildup asks for real patience. From episode 8 the show stops explaining itself and starts spending.

A countdown, and what to do with what is left of it. Same subject underneath the fantasy: a person with limited time, and a story about whether that time can be spent on anything worth doing, at comfort 4. Difference: found family rather than romance, no bargain, and it is gentle where this is stylised.

Slow start Episode 3, once the hospice wish-granting team is fully assembled.

Fate as a contract, with a curse instead of a countdown. Same premise of two people bound by something neither of them agreed to, the same lush styling, and the same melancholy sitting under the romance. Difference: a comedy first, with a family curse rather than an illness, and nobody in it is running out of time.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the spell book is actually opened and the show commits to being a comedy about a curse.

Time as a currency you spend. Same fantasy device attached to a real cost, and the same interest in what a person does once the years stop behaving normally. Difference: heavy 5 with no romance engine, a much older centre, and far sadder than this one is.

Slow start Episode 4. Sit with the confusion, it is doing work.

The contract romance, played as a comedy. Same shape exactly: a supernatural man with terms, a human woman with a deadline attached to her, and a bargain that becomes the relationship. Difference: a black comedy about a corporation and an heiress at comfort 1, so the melancholy is replaced by bite.

Slow start Episode 7, where the contract stops being a gag and the demon actually has something to lose.

The illness without the fantasy. Same terminal clock, and the same argument that the people standing around a diagnosis are the story rather than the diagnosis itself. Difference: friendship rather than romance, heavy 5, and no bargain and nothing supernatural to soften the arithmetic.

Slow start Episode 3, once the diagnosis is out in the open. It stops being a hangout show.
