Two people who have known each other their whole lives, a burnout story hidden inside a neighbourhood romcom, and the best scenes are the quiet ones with a parent rather than the shouting ones. Same warmth, same reunion shape. Difference: Love Next Door is sixteen episodes and pads its middle with misunderstandings this show has no room for.

Slow start Episode 3, once the reason she quit her job and came home stops being a punchline.

Same director, and the dialogue is the point in both. Song Hyun Wook shooting two people talking past each other with real precision, and Seo Hyun Jin playing humiliation as comedy without asking to be pitied. Difference: Another Miss Oh is eighteen episodes, much crueller to its lead, and it carries a premonition device that is a mistake.

Slow start Episode 3, once both Oh Hae Youngs are inside the same story.

The reunion romance at full length. A disgraced photographer, the forecaster who has loved her since childhood, and a village full of people with opinions. The back half is excellent and the ratings show it. Difference: Samdal-ri asks for seven hours of a Seoul career collapse first, which is exactly the padding this show refuses.

Slow start Episode 8, when the show finally drops the career scandal plot and becomes the hometown drama it was always trying to be.

Former high-school sweethearts pushed back in front of each other. The documentary framing is a genuinely good device for showing two people lie about the same events, and it is beautiful and well acted. Difference: Our Beloved Summer has about four episodes of story in sixteen, so it is the same idea run at four times the length.

Slow start Episode 3, once the documentary footage starts cutting between who they were and who they are.

Adults, quietly, with no crisis to survive. Jung So Min and Lee Min Ki play a contract arrangement low and unhurried, and nothing in it exists to hurt you. Reach for it if the appeal was two people behaving reasonably for eight hours. Difference: First Life is about an arrangement rather than a first love, and its stretches of nothing happening are the price of that.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the housemate arrangement starts.

Chae Jong Hyeop again, twelve episodes, and a first two hours that land hard. The island backstory is earned, the singing is real, and the rescue works. Difference: Castaway Diva carries an abuse subplot handled with more courage than this show attempts anything, and it fumbles the move to Seoul.
