Because you loved 아무것도 하고 싶지 않아 2022 · ENA · 12 episodes, about 12 hours in total Drama Streaming: Viki, The Change drama

The cosiest thing on this site, and the murder plot is the reason it is not perfect. A woman quits, moves to a seaside village and does nothing, and the show commits to the nothing with more courage than most dramas commit to their plots. Then the last few episodes turn the leads into detectives and become a different show. There is a real defence of that: without it the twelve episodes would stop rather than end, and two character arcs need somewhere to land. Either way, come for stillness, a library, a village that leaves you alone, and a shopping list that will make you throw things out.

Narrow it down 6 of 6

The order is our own call on how close two shows feel, not a score a machine worked out. Closest thing we have means the same experience in a different costume, shares one strong thread means one thing carries over, and same feeling, different angle means it gets you to the same place by another route.

Closest thing we have

The same wish to stop, held for sixteen episodes without blinking. Same refusal to give a bored, depleted lead a plot to solve, same long silences and same conviction that a commute is a legitimate subject. Difference: pace 1 and rural rather than coastal, and no crime ever arrives, so there is nothing to skip and nothing to rescue it either.

Slow start Episode 3, once Mr Gu starts drinking with Mi-jeong. Before that it is deliberately airless.

Closest thing we have

Adults arranging a quieter life on purpose. Same low volume, same negotiation instead of drama, same interest in what it costs to opt out of the standard timeline. Difference: it is set in Seoul with housing and money as the pressure, and the relationship is a contract, so it has a structure where this one has a season.

Shares one strong thread

A seaside village that absorbs an outsider. Same coastal setting, same ensemble of neighbours used as cushioning, same guarantee that the place is safe. Difference: comfort 5 romcom energy at pace 3, so it never asks for patience and never earns stillness the way this show does.

미지의 서울

Shares one strong thread

Leaving the city for a slower life and finding out what you were avoiding. Same argument that the countryside is not an escape so much as a place quiet enough to hear yourself. Difference: a twin-swap premise gives it a plot from episode one, so it is properly structured rather than deliberately aimless.

Hooks early Episode 1, where the swap happens and both sisters immediately have to live with it. The ratings open at their highest and drift down from there.

Same feeling, different angle

Quitting, coming home, and admitting it to your parents. Same starting point of a burned-out woman with no plan and the same interest in a neighbourhood that already has opinions about her. Difference: it is a childhood-friends romance and the parents get half the show, so the loneliness is never allowed to sit.

Same feeling, different angle

Exhaustion taken completely seriously. Same subject of somebody with nothing left, and the same belief that small kindnesses are the plot. Difference: heavy 4 with an office conspiracy attached, so it is a much harder watch and there is no village to hide in.

Commonly suggested, and wrong

When the Camellia Blooms

The village-comfort recommendation, and it has the exact problem you already complained about here. A serial-killer subplot runs through the whole thing rather than arriving late, so there is no version of it without the murder. Lovely show, wrong prescription.

Our Blues

Paired for the coastal slowness, and it is twenty episodes of grief in an anthology. Chapters that hand you a new family every three hours and a first chapter that stops most attempts. Summer Strike asks for stillness; this asks for stamina.

Once Upon a Small Town

Recommended as the other rural escape, and it is thin. A vet, a village, twelve short episodes and almost nothing underneath. The minimalism here is a philosophy the show argues for. There, the emptiness is just a small budget.

A note on method

Matching starts from attributes we set by hand: pace, how much romance drives the plot, emotional weight, comfort. Then a title only stays if it holds up against the whole run of the show and earns a one-sentence reason for being on this list. Full method.
