Because you loved 서른이지만 열일곱입니다 2018 · SBS · 32 episodes, about 19 hours in total Drama, Comedy, Crime, Mystery Streaming: Viki Change drama

A violinist wakes from a thirteen-year coma still seventeen, into a house belonging to a man who has spent those years blaming himself. This is the softest show in this batch and the one to reach for when you need nothing to hurt: Shin Hye Sun plays a teenager in an adult body without ever making it a joke, the male lead is about as lovable as the form gets, and the housekeeper is the best supporting character in it. Written reviews average 8.75 with 7.92 rewatch, and the honest flaw is that the plot only moves because nobody ever says the one sentence that would end it.

Narrow it down 6 of 6

The order is our own call on how close two shows feel, not a score a machine worked out. Closest thing we have means the same experience in a different costume, shares one strong thread means one thing carries over, and same feeling, different angle means it gets you to the same place by another route.

See You in My 19th Life

이번 생도 잘 부탁해

2023tvN12 ep~70 min~14h total

Closest thing we have

Shin Hae Sun, and a life resumed where it stopped. Same premise of a woman carrying a self the world has moved past, same devotion to somebody who was there at the moment everything broke, same gentle handling of a very sad setup. Difference: the mechanism is reincarnation rather than a coma, and it is quieter and slower, with a smaller comic ensemble.

Closest thing we have

Going back to the person who knew you before. Shared cast, and the same structure of two people whose history is the actual relationship and whose present is mostly catching up. Same warmth, same found-family house. Difference: it is a small-town ensemble with a career-collapse plot, so the fairy-tale premise is replaced by ordinary humiliation.

또! 오해영

2016tvN18 ep~70 min~21h total

Shares one strong thread

Coincidence as the engine, and a man who can see what is coming. Shared cast, same reliance on near-misses and information withheld, same braid of comedy and melodrama. Difference: a 6.46 written-review average against 8.75 here, and it has no respect for its heroine, so it is a much rougher watch.

Because This Is My First Life

2017tvN16 ep~65 min~17h total

Shares one strong thread

Strangers in a house, negotiating. Same architecture of a shared home standing in for a relationship neither party will name, same comfort in domestic routine. Difference: it is dry, adult and economically anxious, so the whimsy that carries this show is entirely absent.

Mr. Queen

철인왕후

Same feeling, different angle

Shin Hae Sun playing somebody with the wrong instincts for the room. Same comic pleasure of a person operating on rules nobody around them shares, and she is the reason both shows work. Difference: it is a palace farce at pace 4 with real political stakes, so the healing tone is replaced by scheming.

Same feeling, different angle

Comfort with a found family built in. Same comfort-first register, same ensemble of neighbours who become the emotional payload. Difference: both leads are adults with adult histories and there is no fantasy premise, so the sweetness is grounded rather than fairy-tale.

Commonly suggested, and wrong

I'm Not a Robot

Paired for the whimsical premise and the healing tone, and it runs on deception the entire way. The pleasure here is that everybody is kind and the obstacle is a misunderstanding nobody is engineering. That distinction is most of what makes this restful.

Angel's Last Mission: Love

The default fantasy-comfort recommendation, and it is a melodrama about impossibility wearing comfort’s clothes. Thirty but Seventeen never threatens anybody, and it never asks you to brace. Swapping that for an ache is the wrong trade.

The Beauty Inside

Recommended for the body-and-identity premise and the 2018 slot. It is an adult romance about shame and public exposure, with a much harder edge. The reason to watch this one is that it treats a lost decade as something recoverable.

A note on method

Matching starts from attributes we set by hand: pace, how much romance drives the plot, emotional weight, comfort. Then a title only stays if it holds up against the whole run of the show and earns a one-sentence reason for being on this list. Full method.
