Warm romance with a genuine threat running under it. Same architecture: a competent woman, a man who decides early and stays decided, and a thriller subplot that gives every soft scene a floor. Difference: the danger is a serial killer rather than a fixation, and the town is a character.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the town starts talking about her and Yong-sik starts visibly not caring.

A prickly professional and the person who feeds the neighbourhood. Same pleasure in a couple negotiated through small daily services rather than declarations. Difference: no crime plot at all, so the tension is entirely internal and the pace is slower.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the village cast is established.

Career collapse, family kitchen, childhood proximity. Same 2023 warmth and the same use of food and family as the site of the romance. Difference: the first half is padded, and the obstacle is reputation rather than a threat to anybody's safety.

Slow start Episode 8, when the show finally drops the career scandal plot and becomes the hometown drama it was always trying to be.

Two adults with jobs, negotiating a relationship around them. Same grown-up register where the work is real and the romance has to fit into it. Difference: it is a workplace comedy with a single father subplot, and nothing outside the office is at risk.

Hooks early Episode 2, when the headhunting CEO and her secretary start actually working together rather than sparring about it.

Bickering competence as courtship. If the tutor and shop owner arguing was the reason you stayed, this runs the same dynamic for twelve tighter hours. Difference: lower stakes, no family ensemble, and a dry tone that never reaches for warmth.

Slow start Episode 3. The research station setting and the rivalry both land here, and episode 4 is the best hour before a long slide.

Food, a small business and a romance built out of labour. Same setting-forward charm and the same interest in a woman running something. Difference: it is much slighter, and it has no interest in the pressure that makes this show sting.
