Same director, same lead, opposite tempo. Park Seon Ho directed both and Kim Se Jeong carries both, and this is the version where the conviction is total: twelve hours of cliches at full speed with a second couple better written than the leads. Difference: Business Proposal has no village and no calm, so the soothing quality that makes Brewing Love work is traded for pace.

Hooks early Episode 1. It commits to the bit in the first ten minutes, and that is the appeal.

The village comfort standard, and the village is the actual draw in both. Eight or nine supporting characters with real arcs, a seaside setting doing half the emotional work, and a couple who are never the most interesting thing on screen. Difference: Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha manufactures a tragic backstory in its last third, where this never raises its voice at all.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the village cast is established.

The other niche-industry workplace romance from the same bracket. A potato research centre played funnier than it has any right to be, twelve episodes, and an ensemble with genuine enthusiasm for a small subject. Difference: the Potato Lab runs on a grudge and a run of pranks, so its comedy is retaliation where this one's is kindness.

Slow start Episode 3. The research station setting and the rivalry both land here, and episode 4 is the best hour before a long slide.

A small food business, a neighbourhood, and adults who behave like adults. The banchan shop is treated as a real business and the romance is handled by two people with histories rather than by two people bickering. Difference: Crash Course in Romance keeps a serial killer under the comedy, which is the ambush this show never delivers.

Slow start Episode 3, once the side-dish shop and the cram school collide properly.

Same director again, and the charm holds for forty half hours. Ji Chang Wook and Nam Ji Hyun are warm enough to carry the whole thing, and the per-episode ratings barely move. Difference: Suspicious Partner staples a serial-killer thriller to the romance and the seam is visible in every episode.

Hooks early Episode 1. The wrongful accusation and the meet-cute happen in the same hour.

Mutual competence instead of mutual patience. A headhunting CEO and the secretary who runs her life, no triangle, no manufactured obstacle, and every frustrating trope resolved inside a scene. Difference: Love Scout is an office rather than a village, and it is colder and slower with no ensemble to warm it.
