The same cliches, executed with total conviction and no cruelty. A lie about an identity, a workplace that cannot know, and twelve hours of speed instead of fourteen of stalling. The second couple is better written than the leads and gets most of the good lines, which is the surplus Dynamite Kiss never has. Difference: Business Proposal never punishes its lead for the lie, so nothing in it curdles the way the middle stretch here does.

Hooks early Episode 1. It commits to the bit in the first ten minutes, and that is the appeal.

Glossy, expensive, and running purely on two people liking each other. Same hotel-and-boardroom furniture, same class gap, same bickering, and it is the archetype this show was copying. It does the copying better, mostly because Lee Jun Ho and Yoona look like they are enjoying themselves. Difference: King the Land's leads stop competing early and stay pleasant, so there is no hero-rescues-her loop to sit through.

Hooks early Episode 1. The heir and the smiling hotel clerk meet in the first twenty minutes and the show never complicates that.

Another premise that fires in episode one and then stands still. A burnt-out producer, a subscription boyfriend, a rotating cast of cameos, and a show with no idea what to do with its own idea. Take it as the honest comparison: same failure mode, shorter runtime. Difference: Boyfriend on Demand has no workplace and no lie, so it never gets mean, and it never gets interesting either.

Hooks early Episode 1 is the entire concept and the show never escalates past it. If the subscription gag has not won you by the end of the first hour, stop there.

The office romance with the lying removed entirely. A headhunting CEO and the secretary who runs her life, chemistry built on mutual competence, and a plot that resolves misunderstandings inside a single scene rather than across four episodes. Difference: Love Scout is calm to the point of flatness, so the fizz that makes the Jeju stretch here fun is not on offer.

Hooks early Episode 2, when the headhunting CEO and her secretary start actually working together rather than sparring about it.

The same office-romcom shape and the same collapse, one year later. A workplace romance that hooks when a first love reappears and then wrecks itself in a single terrible hour, with the politics of the office carrying the middle. Useful mostly as proof that the problem is structural rather than specific. Difference: See You at Work Tomorrow! falls apart at episode eight and holds together before it, which is the reverse of this run.

Slow start Episode 5, when the first love actually returns rather than being hinted at. Episode 8 is a marked dip and the worst hour in the run.

The second-lead problem, in its purest form. A dramedy where the character the show is supposedly about waits while everybody else's story plays out, and the male lead's friends turn out to be the best thing in it. The charge that ends most Dynamite Kiss runs is the charge this show is built from. Difference: Our Universe is a family drama with an orphaned nephew at the centre, so the misfiring screen time is a structural choice rather than a romance going wrong.

Hooks early Episode 1 is the best hour and nothing later matches it. There is no second hook.
