Because you loved 21세기 대군부인 2026 · MBC · 12 episodes, about 14 hours in total Comedy, Drama Streaming: Disney+, Hulu Change drama

A chaebol heiress who wants a title and a prince who has nothing else sign a contract marriage, in an alternate Korea where the monarchy survived into the twenty first century. It is glossy, silly and fully committed, which is rarer than it sounds: the contract lands early, the leads admit things on schedule, and the second couple is worth their screen time. These are the other romances that execute the tropes properly rather than apologising for them.

Narrow it down 6 of 6

The order is our own call on how close two shows feel, not a score a machine worked out. Closest thing we have means the same experience in a different costume, shares one strong thread means one thing carries over, and same feeling, different angle means it gets you to the same place by another route.

Business Proposal

사내 맞선

2022SBS12 ep~60 min~12h total

Shares one strong thread

The other romcom that treats the formula as a discipline. Fake arrangement, immediate escalation, a second couple people actually watch for, and no episode wasted on whether the leads like each other. Same cartoon logic executed with total confidence. Difference: it has no institution behind it. Perfect Crown gets a lot of comedy out of protocol and palace staff, and Business Proposal is just an office and a costume.

Hooks early Episode 1. It commits to the bit in the first ten minutes, and that is the appeal.

To My Beloved Thief poster

To My Beloved Thief

은애하는 도적님아

2026KBS216 ep~70 min~19h total

Shares one strong thread

Royalty and a woman who refuses to behave like a subject, this time in Joseon with a body swap in the middle. Same balance of comedy, romance and court politics that never gets heavy enough to hurt. Difference: sixteen episodes rather than twelve, no modern setting, and the class gap is a genuine danger rather than a paperwork problem.

Hooks early Episode 1. The night thief and the prince collide immediately and the body swap arrives before you have time to get bored of either of them.

Mr. Queen

철인왕후

2020tvN20 ep~75 min~25h total

Shares one strong thread

For the palace as comic machinery. A modern sensibility trapped inside royal protocol, a marriage neither party chose, and every court official written as an obstacle to be outmanoeuvred. Same pleasure in watching someone treat sacred ritual as an inconvenience. Difference: the humour is much broader and the political plot has real teeth in the back half, so it is less consistently light.

Love Scout

나의 완벽한 비서

2025SBS12 ep~70 min~14h total

Same feeling, different angle

If the appeal was two capable adults negotiating rather than pining. A headhunting CEO and the single father who works as her secretary, both good at their jobs, both direct about what they want, and a romance built on competence. Difference: no fantasy premise, no title, no set pieces. It is a workplace romance in a real Seoul and its highs are much quieter.

Same feeling, different angle

The rich man, the woman who runs his life, and a contract that stops being a contract. Same joke structure, same reliance on two leads with immaculate comic timing, same refusal to complicate anything. Difference: it has no ensemble worth mentioning, so when the leads are off screen there is nothing there, where Perfect Crown has a court full of people to cut to.

The other Byeon Woo Seok vehicle, and the useful comparison: same fluttering register, same willingness to be shameless, much bigger emotional swings. Difference: it runs on time travel and a fatal deadline, so it earns its highs with dread. Perfect Crown never asks you to be worried, which is either the appeal or the limitation depending on the night.

Commonly suggested, and wrong

Queen of Tears

The default pick for chaebol marriage, and it will ambush anyone who came here for lightness. Same premise on paper, a marriage in trouble inside a very rich family, and it is a melodrama built around a terminal diagnosis. Perfect Crown is a comedy with a crown in it. Do not follow one with the other unless you want whiplash.

The King: Eternal Monarch

Paired because it is the other modern Korean monarchy, which is genuinely the only thing the two share. That one is a parallel world thriller with a mythology it never explains and a romance that gets lost inside it. This is twelve episodes of contract marriage comedy with clean rules and no homework.

Crash Landing on You

Suggested as the big romance everyone has seen. It is a border crossing melodrama where the obstacle is a state, the supporting cast carries whole episodes of tension, and every hour of it costs the couple something. Perfect Crown has no obstacle bigger than a press office. Different scale, different intent.

A note on method

Matching starts from attributes we set by hand: pace, how much romance drives the plot, emotional weight, comfort. Then a title only stays if it holds up against the whole run of the show and earns a one-sentence reason for being on this list. Full method.
