Because you loved 이 사랑 통역 되나요? 2026 · Netflix · 12 episodes, about 13 hours in total Drama, Comedy Streaming: Netflix Change drama

An interpreter whose entire professional ethic is invisibility gets assigned to a star whose public voice he has been quietly rewriting, and every press conference turns into a test of what he is willing to say on her behalf. The pull is the gap between what she means, what he translates, and what neither of them says. The picks below are built around that gap: professional intimacy, watching somebody be edited, and two people who can only be honest inside a job.

Narrow it down 6 of 6

The order is our own call on how close two shows feel, not a score a machine worked out. Closest thing we have means the same experience in a different costume, shares one strong thread means one thing carries over, and same feeling, different angle means it gets you to the same place by another route.

Melo Movie poster

Melo Movie

멜로 무비

2025Netflix10 ep~61 min~10h total

Shares one strong thread

The closest thing to it in tone and in subject. Two people whose work is other people's stories, circling each other for years while neither says the direct thing. Same interest in language as a hiding place, same beautifully shot restraint, same second story about an older couple that quietly outclasses the main one. Difference: it is much sadder and much slower, and it is a melodrama where this one is a romcom.

Slow start Episode 7 is the best hour in the run, which is very late for a ten episode show. Before that it is atmosphere and film references.

Our Beloved Summer poster

Our Beloved Summer

그해 우리는

2021SBS16 ep~60 min~16h total

Shares one strong thread

For the specific discomfort of being observed while you are trying to be a person. A camera crew instead of an interpreter, two people whose worst version of themselves is on film, and a script that understands how much of a relationship is performance management. Difference: the leads have a shared past and the show trades on nostalgia rather than on the thrill of a first meeting.

Slow start Episode 3, once the documentary footage starts cutting between who they were and who they are.

나의 완벽한 비서

2025SBS12 ep~70 min~14h total

Shares one strong thread

The other 2025 romance about competence as attraction. A headhunting CEO and the secretary who keeps her life running, both of them adults, no manufactured misunderstandings, and a workplace where the job is real rather than a backdrop. Difference: it stays warm and low-threat, and there is nothing hiding underneath it.

Hooks early Episode 2, when the headhunting CEO and her secretary start actually working together rather than sparring about it.

Same feeling, different angle

Professional invisibility as a romance engine. Somebody very good at making other people look good, a workplace where words are the product, and a slow admission that the arrangement has stopped being professional. Difference: the power sits with the man and the show is far gentler about it, so none of the loyalty tests that drive Can This Love Be Translated exist here.

눈물의 여왕

Same feeling, different angle

If the appeal was the power imbalance: a very famous woman, a man who works for her family, and a marriage that runs on managed statements. Same pleasure in watching a hard woman drop the public register for exactly one person. Difference: it is a melodrama with a terminal diagnosis at its centre, so it plays for devastation where this plays for flutter.

Slow start Episode 4, when the in-law hierarchy flips. The chaebol scaffolding takes a while to pay off.

김비서가 왜 그럴까

2018tvN16 ep~69 min~18h total

Same feeling, different angle

The pure form of the service relationship romance: nine years of anticipating a difficult person's needs, then one resignation letter. Same dynamic where the job is intimacy in disguise. Difference: it is a broad comedy with no interest in the ethics of the arrangement, and the childhood trauma plot is decoration rather than the point.

Hooks early Episode 1. The dynamic is fully loaded from the first scene.

Commonly suggested, and wrong

Business Proposal

The default romcom pick, handed out for any Korean romance with a workplace and an office secret. It is a cartoon, deliberately and successfully, with no interior life for anybody. What makes Can This Love Be Translated work is the quiet: a man deciding, live, which version of a sentence to give the room. Nothing in Business Proposal is quiet.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

Paired for the lead, which is the only connection. That one is a healing drama about a village absorbing a stranger, and its whole register is comfort. This is a show about performance and editing, set in hotel corridors and interview rooms in two countries. Watch both, in whichever order, but not expecting the same thing twice.

Something in the Rain

Suggested for the age gap and the workplace, and it will disappoint anyone who came for the wordplay. That show is about an office turning on a woman for a private choice, filmed with long silences and very little pleasure. The interpreting premise here generates jokes and tension in the same scene. Different appetite entirely.

A note on method

Matching starts from attributes we set by hand: pace, how much romance drives the plot, emotional weight, comfort. Then a title only stays if it holds up against the whole run of the show and earns a one-sentence reason for being on this list. Full method.
