Slow start Episode 7 is the best hour in the run, which is very late for a ten episode show. Before that it is atmosphere and film references.

For the specific discomfort of being observed while you are trying to be a person. A camera crew instead of an interpreter, two people whose worst version of themselves is on film, and a script that understands how much of a relationship is performance management. Difference: the leads have a shared past and the show trades on nostalgia rather than on the thrill of a first meeting.

Slow start Episode 3, once the documentary footage starts cutting between who they were and who they are.

The other 2025 romance about competence as attraction. A headhunting CEO and the secretary who keeps her life running, both of them adults, no manufactured misunderstandings, and a workplace where the job is real rather than a backdrop. Difference: it stays warm and low-threat, and there is nothing hiding underneath it.

Professional invisibility as a romance engine. Somebody very good at making other people look good, a workplace where words are the product, and a slow admission that the arrangement has stopped being professional. Difference: the power sits with the man and the show is far gentler about it, so none of the loyalty tests that drive Can This Love Be Translated exist here.

Hooks early Episode 2, once she is inside the publishing house under false pretences.

If the appeal was the power imbalance: a very famous woman, a man who works for her family, and a marriage that runs on managed statements. Same pleasure in watching a hard woman drop the public register for exactly one person. Difference: it is a melodrama with a terminal diagnosis at its centre, so it plays for devastation where this plays for flutter.

Slow start Episode 4, when the in-law hierarchy flips. The chaebol scaffolding takes a while to pay off.

The pure form of the service relationship romance: nine years of anticipating a difficult person's needs, then one resignation letter. Same dynamic where the job is intimacy in disguise. Difference: it is a broad comedy with no interest in the ethics of the arrangement, and the childhood trauma plot is decoration rather than the point.
