If the setting was the reason you stayed, this is the show that takes it seriously. Difference: it is a family drama over sixteen hours with no disguise and no caper, and the humour is warmth rather than farce.

Slow start Episode 3. The IMF collapse hits the family firm properly here and the show finds its subject. The last four hours are the weakest.

The other undercover comedy where an adult professional pretends to be a decade younger. Same structural joke, same reliance on one lead's charisma to carry a plot made of coincidences. Difference: it is a spy story in a school rather than a financial crime story in an office, and it never develops the second half turn that lifts Miss Hong out of sitcom territory.

Hooks early Episode 1. An intelligence agent enrolls as a student and the show tells you within one hour that logic is optional. The last three episodes are the strongest.

For the money. A chaebol succession war built on real Korean financial history, with the late nineties as a live event rather than an aesthetic. Same appetite for watching somebody with information move faster than the men who own everything. Difference: it is a serious revenge drama with real violence in it, and nothing about it is funny.

Hooks early Episode 1. He dies and wakes up in 1987 inside the family that had him killed.

If the caper half was the draw: an unlikely operator, a corrupt local power structure, and a plan that keeps having to be rebuilt on the fly. Same comic engine of competent people improvising badly. Difference: it is forty episodes, aimed at broad slapstick rather than dry office comedy, and the target is a town rather than a balance sheet.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the priest, the prosecutor and the detective are stuck in the same room.

The workplace under the comedy. A trading company where the hierarchy is the plot, filmed with more accuracy about Korean office life than anything before or since. Same interest in what juniors absorb so seniors can look competent. Difference: no crime, no disguise, no jokes to speak of. It is a slow, quiet, sometimes bleak show about surviving employment.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the sales team starts treating him like a person rather than a filing error.

The other show where dismantling predatory money is a spectator sport. An outsider with skills, a building full of people worth protecting, a villain built to be enjoyed. Difference: it is a black comedy with cartoon violence and no interest in how finance actually works, where Miss Hong keeps the fraud plausible enough to follow.
