Twenty episodes of cartoon violence played completely straight, and the tone is the whole test. If a mafia consigliere torturing a corporate lawyer for laughs sounds like a good evening, this is as entertaining as television gets. If it does not, nothing here improves. It is at least four episodes too long, the plaza tenants turn into a variety act, and the romance is decoration on a revenge machine. Song Joong Ki has never been better cast. It rewatches poorly, which is what happens when the pleasure is all in the surprise.
