A contract worker with no degree inside a trading company, and twenty episodes about hierarchy, paperwork and the exact mechanics of being expendable. Same refusal to hand out a promotion as a reward for suffering. Difference: no physical danger and no ensemble comedy, so it is the bleaker of the two by some distance.

Same writer, same director, whole lives instead of one shift. Noh Hee Kyung and Kim Kyu Tae on Jeju, handing chapters to people whose work defines them, written with the patience the genre almost never grants middle-aged characters. Difference: it is an anthology about family and money rather than one workplace, and it is far gentler company.

Slow start Episode 3 closes the first chapter and sells the anthology format.

Same writer, the same eye, pointed at old age. A group of women in their seventies and the writer recording them, all of it about people the story usually looks past. Same dialogue rhythms and the same conviction that ordinary want is enough plot. Difference: no institution and no procedure, so the structure Live leans on is absent.

Slow start Episode 3, once the friend group's shared history stops being backstory.

The other great ensemble about a closed system with rules. A newcomer with no standing dropped inside an institution and slowly learning how it actually works, surrounded by an ensemble that accumulates. Difference: it is deliberately funny and it lets people be kind to each other in ways Live's shift pattern never allows.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the cell mates are introduced properly.

Professionals doing a hard job, with the anger removed. The medical work is real and the show is genuinely about competence, and the friendship carries the runtime. Difference: everyone is senior, comfortable and admired, so none of Live's material about pay, rank and being disposable exists here.

Hooks early Episode 2, when the band and the friendship rhythm take over from the medical cases.

A rookie inside a profession that was not built for her. Case-of-the-week structure, a junior finding out how the institution really works, and a workplace that has to adjust around her rather than the reverse. Difference: it is warm and largely consoling, and the institution eventually behaves, which Live is clear-eyed enough never to promise.
