Slow start Episode 5, once all three men circling her are in play. The opening hours are a history lesson, and the real barrier is the writing register: the dialogue is elliptical and the flashbacks last seconds, and that is where it either has you or loses you.

A romance that history refuses to allow. Same shape of two people whose feelings are never the deciding factor, and the same restraint in how it is filmed. Difference: a palace instead of a massacre, and the coercion is protocol rather than martial law, which still leaves it a heavy 4 courtship rather than a light one.

Same writer, in the gentlest mode she has. Lee Kang again on people forced into roles they did not choose and the quiet lying that follows. Difference: contemporary, twins, and far gentler, so the same instinct for buried pain arrives without the history pressing on it.

Hooks early Episode 1, where the swap happens and both sisters immediately have to live with it. The ratings open at their highest and drift down from there.

Tragedy signposted from the start and tenderness anyway. Same willingness to spend hours making you love people it intends to break, and the same use of a period setting as a trap. Difference: fantasy sageuk over twenty episodes at comfort 1, so the misery is longer and less specific than one documented month.
