Twelve episodes where the supernatural rules stay simple enough to care about and the first eight are the best young romance of their year. Difference: Head Over Heels hands its plot to a late arrival and its final stretch belongs to a different story, so the fall-off is steeper than anything here.

Hooks early Episode 1. A teenage shaman meets the unluckiest boy in school and decides to keep him alive, and the setup is complete in one hour.

The other 2026 show pairing the dead with the justice system, and it keeps its weekly cases. Sixteen episodes of ghost clients, a cosy register, likeable leads and the strongest work at the end. Difference: Phantom Lawyer is too long for its own format and much lighter on romance, so it is comfort viewing rather than a couple.

Hooks early Episode 1. Ghost clients, one reluctant lawyer, case of the week. The middle stretch is flat and the last two hours are the strongest.

Case-of-the-week work where each ghost gets a proper sendoff. Ten episodes about somebody who starts seeing the workers who died on the job, with warm comedy and no minute wasted. This is the version of the format this show abandoned. Difference: Oh My Ghost Clients has almost no romance in it, so the bickering partnership here is replaced by a job.

The dead as clientele, in the most designed-looking show in this bracket. Sixteen episodes where every frame of the hotel is an object, the staff histories are the best writing in it, and the supernatural admin is played straight. Difference: Hotel del Luna is sad on purpose and cannot decide between weekly guests and one long tragedy, so both get told at half strength.

Slow start Episode 3, once the hotel staff get histories of their own.

Grudges settled one client at a time, with a found family running the shop. Twelve episodes, no padding, cases better than the mythology connecting them, and comedy that is broad and never cruel. Difference: Mystic Pop-up Bar works inside dreams rather than institutions, so nothing depends on evidence or procedure.

Hooks early Episode 1. The bar, the debt and the rules are all on the table immediately.

A silly supernatural premise played with total conviction by two well matched leads. Sixteen episodes of a curse, a book of spells and a romance the chemistry carries. Difference: Destined with You stalls in the middle explaining its own mythology twice, and its supernatural side plot is even more undercooked than this one's.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the spell book is actually opened and the show commits to being a comedy about a curse.
