Because you loved 원더풀스 2026 · Netflix · 8 episodes, about 9.5 hours in total Action & Adventure, Comedy, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Drama Streaming: Netflix Change drama

Three misfits in 1999 get powers in a city waiting for the millennium to end the world, and spend eight episodes being the least serious superhero team ever assembled. The tonal mix should not work: comedy, action, doomsday melancholy, a director who normally does hospital drama. It works because every misfit gets a real arc and the period dread bleeds into the characters. These are the other Korean shows that hold a joke and a feeling in the same hand.

Narrow it down 6 of 6

The order is our own call on how close two shows feel, not a score a machine worked out. Closest thing we have means the same experience in a different costume, shares one strong thread means one thing carries over, and same feeling, different angle means it gets you to the same place by another route.

Mystic Pop-up Bar poster

Mystic Pop-up Bar

쌍갑포차

2020JTBC12 ep~68 min~14h total

Shares one strong thread

The same trick, a few years earlier. A supernatural rulebook played for comedy, a trio thrown together by circumstance, and a period of history sitting underneath the gags doing the emotional work. Same structure where each case is silly and the flashback is not. Difference: it is a cozy fantasy with a fixed setting and no action to speak of, so the scale never gets bigger than one tent.

The Legend of Kitchen Soldier

취사병 전설이 되다

2026tvN12 ep~57 min~11h total

Shares one strong thread

The other 2026 underdog fantasy that leads with charm. A hopeless conscript gets a game system, and the show is smart enough to explain the gimmick fast and then get out of its own way. Same warmth toward people who are not good at anything yet. Difference: no ensemble chemistry to speak of and no stakes beyond a base kitchen, so it never reaches the emotional register the Wonderfools back half gets to.

Hooks early Episode 1, which opens at the highest rating of the run. The quest gimmick is explained fast and then gets out of the way.

The Fiery Priest

열혈사제

2019SBS40 ep~35 min~23h total

Same feeling, different angle

For the specific pleasure of absurd people doing competent violence. A mismatched trio, comedy timed like farce, action staged well enough to take seriously, and a plot about a corrupt town underneath it. Difference: it is forty episodes with no supernatural element, and its emotional beats are much more conventional. The Wonderfools does its feeling in eight hours and sideways.

Tale of the Nine-Tailed

구미호뎐

2020tvN16 ep~70 min~19h total

Same feeling, different angle

Supernatural rules, modern setting, a lead who treats immortality as an inconvenience. Same combination of monster of the week structure and comic banter with a real bruise at the centre. Difference: the romance is the engine and the mythology gets heavy, where the Wonderfools keeps friendship in front and never lets the lore slow it down.

Same feeling, different angle

If the appeal was a group of misfits with powers learning to be a unit. Ensemble fantasy with real jokes, a training structure and a world with proper rules. Difference: it is a costume epic with a mythology it takes seriously and thirty episodes to fill, so it demands more commitment than eight breezy hours.

2016MBC16 ep~60 min~16h total

Same feeling, different angle

The other Korean high concept where the premise is explained fast and then escalated every episode. Same confidence that an audience can keep up. Difference: it is a two hander thriller about authorship with almost no comedy, and its pleasures are structural rather than social. Nobody in it is having fun the way this trio is.

Skip these

Commonly suggested, and wrong

Moving

The default superpower pick, and it is a much better made show, full stop. It is also a serious spy story about parents and children with sustained dread and real violence. The Wonderfools is a comedy where the powers are punchlines for two episodes. Watch both, but not in the same week.

The Uncanny Counter

Suggested for the misfit team with abilities, and the resemblance stops at the logline. That show runs on a rigid demon hunting mythology and a straight faced moral seriousness, and its comedy is warmth rather than absurdity. If you came for the millennium silliness, the earnestness will feel like a different genre.

Hellbound

Paired for the apocalypse. It is a bleak theological horror series about a country handing itself over to a cult, with no jokes and no heroes. This one uses doomsday as a mood and a punchline. There is no version of the Wonderfools appetite that Hellbound satisfies.

A note on method

Matching starts from attributes we set by hand: pace, how much romance drives the plot, emotional weight, comfort. Then a title only stays if it holds up against the whole run of the show and earns a one-sentence reason for being on this list. Full method.
