The draw is a client with nowhere left to go, a crew that takes the case the law dropped, and a punishment that fits. Watch season one, and know the curve before you commit: season one is about repairing the victim, season two copies it with less conviction, and season three trades the repair for big flashy missions and loses the point. An 8.8 from 55,908 ratings against a written-review average of 7.79 tells you the other half: the cases land, the man solving them is never in danger.

Narrow it down 7 of 7

The order is our own call on how close two shows feel, not a score a machine worked out. Closest thing we have means the same experience in a different costume, shares one strong thread means one thing carries over, and same feeling, different angle means it gets you to the same place by another route.

Closest thing we have

Same moral engine, and it actually indicts itself. A man decides the sentence was too light and starts issuing his own, and the show keeps asking whether cheering it on is the problem. Same 18+ weight, same episodic structure where each target is a real category of crime. Difference: there is no crew and no comedy, so the loneliness that Taxi Driver keeps at bay with a garage full of friends is the whole texture here.

Closest thing we have

The crew, the loan sharks, the fights that hurt. Two decent men and an old-money benefactor go after a predator the police will not touch, and the pleasure is the same: competence assembled against somebody who deserves it. Pace 5 both, and the villain is a specific real-world racket rather than an abstraction. Difference: it is warmer and much less angry, with a boxing-movie sweetness that Taxi Driver has no time for.

The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call

중증외상센터

Shares one strong thread

Competence as the entire thrill. An impossible operator walks into a broken institution and starts fixing outcomes by force of will, and the case-of-the-week rhythm is identical. Both run at pace 5 and both give you the satisfaction of watching a system get overruled by somebody better than it. Difference: the target is bureaucracy rather than criminals, and nobody gets hit, so the catharsis is professional rather than physical.

Mercy for None

2025Netflix7 ep~42 min~5h total

Shares one strong thread

Revenge with the humour surgically removed. A man works his way up a chain of people who wronged him, methodically, and the violence carries a cost the camera does not flinch from. Same pace, same refusal to let the law be the answer. Difference: it is a single unbroken vendetta rather than a case anthology, so there is no client to care about and no weekly reset.

Same feeling, different angle

Identical meters, and the same secret organisation behind an ordinary shopfront. A dead relative, a business that was never what it looked like, and a protagonist learning that the people around them were operators the whole time. Pace 5, no romance, heavy 4, comfort 2 on both. Difference: it is told in flashback and withholds its rules on purpose, where Taxi Driver explains the operation in episode one and gets on with it.

2016tvN16 ep~75 min~20h total

Same feeling, different angle

Cold cases and the institution that buried them. The link is the victim rather than the vigilante: both shows are built on real unsolved crimes and both are furious that the file was closed. Lee Je Hoon leads both. Difference: the tool is a radio, not a fist, and the show is a genuine mystery, so the resolution is intellectual instead of the punishment Taxi Driver is selling.

Same feeling, different angle

People the law cannot reach, and a rescue that has to be improvised. Four young men decide to get somebody out of a place the police will not enter, and the dread is built from institutional silence exactly the way Taxi Driver builds its outrage. Difference: it is horror-adjacent and the rescuers are amateurs, so the reassuring competence is gone and the danger is real.

Commonly suggested, and wrong

The Uncanny Counter

The default team-of-avengers pick, and the mismatch is tone. The targets there are literal demons and the register is a teen adventure with a noodle shop, so the crimes lose their weight. Taxi Driver works because the cases are recognisable enough to make you angry.

My Name

Paired for the brutality, and it will leave you worse off. It is a tragedy about a person destroying herself to reach a truth, with no client, no crew and no relief. Somebody who came for a case closed and a victim vindicated gets none of those three.

Bad Guys

The other assemble-a-crew revenge show, and the reason it does not transfer is the moral frame. There the appeal is that the operatives are monsters kept on a leash. Taxi Driver spends its runtime on the person who was hurt, and swapping the sympathy from the victim to the weapon changes what the show is for.

A note on method

Matching starts from attributes we set by hand: pace, how much romance drives the plot, emotional weight, comfort. Then a title only stays if it holds up against the whole run of the show and earns a one-sentence reason for being on this list. Full method.
