Because you loved 알고있지만, 2021 · JTBC · 10 episodes, about 12 hours in total Drama Streaming: Netflix Change drama

Two art students, one of them a practised flirt, and a relationship both of them can see is a bad idea. A 7.4 from 80,582 ratings sits against a 2.9 rewatch score and a 4.3 for story across twelve written reviews, and that gap is the show: beautiful to sit through once, with nothing to come back for. It is a title to replace rather than rewatch, so this list is built as an upgrade path: the same register and the same visual sincerity, with writing that knows where it is going.

Narrow it down 6 of 6

The order is our own call on how close two shows feel, not a score a machine worked out. Closest thing we have means the same experience in a different costume, shares one strong thread means one thing carries over, and same feeling, different angle means it gets you to the same place by another route.

Closest thing we have

The same register, with somewhere to arrive. Young people in and around art, inner monologue laid over long quiet shots, film-school beauty, and a relationship that hurts on purpose rather than by drift. Difference: heavy 4 and as much about grief as attraction, so the flirting is gone and the ache is deliberate.

Slow start Episode 7 is the best hour in the run, which is very late for a ten episode show. Before that it is atmosphere and film references.

Our Beloved Summer

그해 우리는

Closest thing we have

Beautiful, wistful and grown up. Same youth-romance styling and the same interest in two people who cannot leave each other alone, with dialogue that actually examines why they cannot. Difference: they have a shared history rather than a standoff, the argument is that both of them grew up, and it is comfort 4 where this is cold.

Slow start Episode 3, once the documentary footage starts cutting between who they were and who they are.

Shares one strong thread

The ambiguous man, with a plot attached to him. Same campus, same discomfort about a relationship that is visibly a bad idea, and the same refusal to make anybody in it safe. Difference: the man is actively managing everyone around him, so the unease is a power play with consequences instead of two people failing to decide.

Hooks early Episode 1. The dynamic between them is unsettling from the first scene.

Shares one strong thread

The adult version of the same messy pull. Same quiet camera, same morally awkward attraction, no villain and no device anywhere in it. Difference: pace 1, and both of them do the difficult talking out loud, which is precisely what this show refuses to do.

Slow start Episode 4, once both families are involved. Before that it is glances and pharmacy small talk.

Same feeling, different angle

Youth romance that means it. Same summer-lit nostalgia and the same conviction that being young with somebody marks you permanently, with a script doing its emotional work in dialogue rather than in silence. Difference: heavy 4 and a period setting, and the obstacle is the world rather than a bad decision.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the two of them start meeting at night. Episode 1 is loud and abrasive on purpose, and it is the easiest place to quit.

Same feeling, different angle

An unhealthy centre, handled on purpose. Same interest in attraction between two people who are not well, and the same willingness to make the relationship itself the case study. Difference: adults, romance 4 with real warmth, and a trauma plot the script commits to explaining properly.

Slow start Episode 3, once the housemates are all under one roof and the household becomes the setting.

Commonly suggested, and wrong

Something in the Rain

The default grown-up melodrama pick from the same shelf. It is a workplace relationship under family pressure, warm for six episodes and then repetitive, and every problem in it is external. Nothing here is external, which is the entire point of it.

Run On

Paired for the young cast and the muted mood, and it is the negative image of this one. Everybody in it says what they mean, kindly and out loud, and there is no unhealthy pull anywhere in the four leads. The discomfort is the product here.

The Trunk

Suggested for the cold beauty and the frankness. It is a contract-marriage mystery, slower still at pace 1 and considerably heavier, and its subject is a transaction rather than an attraction. The styling matches and nothing else does.

A note on method

Matching starts from attributes we set by hand: pace, how much romance drives the plot, emotional weight, comfort. Then a title only stays if it holds up against the whole run of the show and earns a one-sentence reason for being on this list. Full method.
