Cheese in the Trap
치즈인더트랩Checked and re-read
The best-observed campus drama here and the worst-managed production. Kim Go Eun and Park Hae Jin are excellent, and the first ten episodes are a quietly frightening study of a man who manages people instead of liking them. Then screen time gets rearranged around the second lead, the central relationship goes missing from its own show, and the finale rates lowest of the run at 7.5 for good reason. Worth watching for what it does right up front, as long as you know it never finishes the thought.
Hong Seol and Yoo Jung attend the same college, but they couldn't be more different. Hong Seol is a poor, unpopular student with no money, while Yoo Jung is rich, well-liked, extremely smart, and popular. Hong Seol just wants to get through her college career quietly, but finds herself getting caught up in whatever Yoo Jung drags her into. Can Hong Seol break away, or will she continue to be the only person who sees Yoo Jung's true self?
Hooks early Episode 1. The dynamic between them is unsettling from the first scene.
