A country cop goes undercover in a Gangnam drug ring in 1995 while his wife, a detective, works the other side of the same case. This is the best written thing in the 2023 slate: 9.6 across the written reviews with a 9.1 rewatch score. Ji Chang Wook has never been better and Wi Ha Joon plays the gang boss as somebody worth loving, which is what makes the ending land. It is also 18 plus, sustained, ugly violence with no relief valve. The spiritual heir to Cruel City, and better paced than it.
Set in the 1980s, a husband and wife, both detectives, infiltrate a massive criminal organization responsible for the illegal drug trade between Korea, China, and Japan.
Hooks early Episode 1. The undercover assignment starts immediately and the marriage is already a wound before the first hour ends.
