A political thriller set in 1960s Korea that asks you to invest in two men whose partnership is doomed by history, and then delivers on the doom. Song Kang Ho grounds the whole thing, and Byun Yo Han matches him, which is the highest compliment available. It is slow, talky, and dense with period politics that demand attention, and a 7.5 undersells it. If the subject interests you, it is excellent. If it does not, nothing here will convert you.
Driven to turn his country's fortunes around, Kim San crosses paths with Pak Doochill, a shady fixer who adapts quickly to any situation; together, the pair form an uneasy alliance.
