Eight episodes, one revenge, and the most physical fight work Netflix has funded in Korea. Shares the weight of consequences and the sense of a lead being used by everybody around them. Difference: it is a crime story with a woman undercover, and there is nothing procedural about it.

Hooks early Episode 1. The father dies in the first fifteen minutes and the deal is struck immediately.

Seven episodes of pure noir with nothing spare in them. Same short-run structure and the same understanding that violence in Korean drama works best when it costs something. Difference: it is gang territory and the tone is bleak throughout, with no institutional argument anywhere in it.

Hooks early Episode 1. A brother is dead, a man walks back into the organisation he left, and the violence starts immediately. Seven episodes of forty minutes with nothing spare.

A decent man walking into a world that will use him up. Both put an ordinary officer inside a supply chain and both are interested in what that does to him. Difference: it is a 1990s undercover story with a marriage at the centre, so the pull is personal rather than political.

Hooks early Episode 1. The undercover assignment starts immediately and the marriage is already a wound before the first hour ends.

An extremely capable man who would rather be left alone, until somebody takes his family. Same competence fantasy and the same short run, with fight work that is genuinely good. Difference: it plays as a comedy, so the register is entertainment where this one wants to make a point.

Hooks early Episode 1. A retired operative, a taken daughter, and no interest in explaining physics. The pace only breaks at episodes 8 and 9.
