The same siege, moved into a school. One building nobody can leave, an ensemble too big for the premise, an infection spreading faster than anyone in charge can answer, and the same appetite for gore. Both are really about who a trapped group decides is still worth saving. Difference: the cast is teenagers, the register is much funnier, and there is no melodrama about what the monsters mean.

Hooks early Episode 1. The science lab, the first bite and the corridor outside it are all inside the opening hour.

Infection as body horror, with the mystery kept at the front. Same interest in what the thing inside somebody wants, and the same willingness to be genuinely nasty on screen rather than atmospheric about it. Difference: pace 5 and much shorter, with the outbreak handled by the state instead of by neighbours, so there is no confinement and no ensemble to grieve over.

Hooks early Episode 1. The infection and the uneasy truce inside one body are both established inside forty minutes.

A monster somebody built on purpose, played as melodrama. Same shape: a created affliction, a building that becomes a trap, and a story far more interested in the people shut in with it than in the creature design. Difference: it is a period piece with a central romance and a war around it, so the claustrophobia is traded for scale and sentiment.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the hospital becomes the setting rather than a rumour. The pace changes completely there.

Here the building is the monster. Same contamination logic and the same corridor dread at heavy 5, in a residence full of people you would not want to meet on the stairs, and it never once offers relief. Difference: nothing supernatural, no scale and no set pieces, so the horror is entirely psychological.

Hooks early Episode 2, once the other tenants start knocking on his door.

The outbreak, built properly. Same spreading infection, real gore and survival with no help coming, and it is the better-made show by a distance. Difference: a historical political thriller where the plague is a governance failure, so the grief and the monster melodrama are replaced by succession politics.

The other big ensemble where ordinary people carry something monstrous. Same webtoon scale, same structure of a large cast introduced in pieces, and the same instinct for turning an ordinary building into a battleground. Difference: the abilities are inherited rather than a symptom, and the register is warm family melodrama rather than horror.

Slow start Episode 7, when the show stops being about three kids at school and hands the whole middle stretch to their parents.
