A colonial-era monster story that is much better at the colonial era than at the monster. The Gyeongseong of 1945 is built with real money and real detail, the human cruelty inside the hospital lands harder than anything with claws, and Park Seo Jun and Han So Hee are charming enough to carry the slow stretches. The creature work is fine and the plot is thinner than the ten hours it fills. Season one is the one to watch. The sequel is a different show wearing the same title.
1945, Gyeongseong South Korea. Jang Tae-sang is a rich man. He is known as the most attractive man around Bukchon in Gyeongseong. He is also a reliable source for information in the area. His talents, including the ability to respond quickly to situations, keen insight and his sociability, have led him to his current position. When he comes into contact with Yoon Chae-ok, he has to reevaluate his priorities as a person.
Hooks early Episode 2, once the hospital becomes the setting rather than a rumour. The pace changes completely there.
