Hooks early Episode 2, the first jump back. Be warned: the lead's fan-girl register in the first two episodes is a lot to take, and it settles around episode 6.

A demon in a judge's body sends murderers to hell on a weekly schedule, and the show is completely uninterested in rehabilitation, which is the same moral position your heroine took in episode two. Park Shin Hye is having a great time. Difference: the villains change every fortnight, so nothing builds the way a sixteen episode grudge does.

A wife discovers the affair and teams up with her mother in law to dismantle everybody involved, which is your dinner-table scene extended to twelve episodes. The two women running the operation are the best part. Difference: no fantasy element at all, so every move has to be legal, plausible and slower.

Hooks early Episode 1. The affair is discovered and the alliance with the mother in law forms fast.

Revenge as a decade-long project, executed by a woman who has itemised every person who owes her. If the appeal was the paperwork, the timing and the refusal to accept an apology, this is that with the comedy removed. Difference: it is bleak from the first frame, and it offers no comfort or romance to soften the arithmetic.

A mother loses a child, the courts do nothing, and she settles it herself inside the first hour, then spends thirteen more paying for it. Kim Nam Joo plays the cost of revenge rather than the fun of it. Difference: the tone is melodrama, not fantasy, so the satisfaction always arrives with a bill attached.

Hooks early Episode 1. The loss, the killing and the prison sentence are all inside the first hour. There is no slow build.

Weekly, professionalised revenge for people the system ignored, complete with disguises and a satisfying trap in every case. It scratches the same itch on a shorter cycle. Difference: it is an action procedural with a team, so the grudge spreads across a case a week rather than tightening on one target, even though its own lead is carrying a murdered mother.
