Three actresses play one woman across twenty years of humiliation, violence and internet fame, and the handover between them is the most interesting formal idea in a 2023 Korean series. Lee Han Byeol, Nana and Go Hyun Jung are all excellent, and the writing is cruellest to the characters it understands best. It is also relentlessly bleak, explicit about bodies and appearance in a way that will put many off, and the final chapter reaches for redemption it has not earned. Seven hours, no comfort, real ambition.
An office worker who is insecure about her looks becomes a masked internet personality by night — until a chain of ill-fated events overtakes her life.
Slow start Episode 3, when the lead is recast and the show reveals it is a relay race across three actresses rather than one story.
