Glacial on purpose, and the payoff is quiet rather than dramatic. A revenge plan dissolves into a habit of showing up for each other, and the dissolving is the entire subject. Sixteen episodes at this pace, with two exhausted people deciding they can stop performing. Difference: Call It Love starts with a plan and gives it up, where this starts with a contract and never presses on it.

Slow start Episode 4, once the revenge plan stops being a plan and becomes a habit of seeing each other.

Same director, and the confidence to refuse a clean finish. Six episodes, two actors, and a writing-mentor relationship the professor cannot control. Kim Kyu Tae working at the same patience again, and this time the six hours earn every minute of their ambiguity. Difference: Notes from the Last Row is two people in a room with no marriage and no company in it, so nothing is being withheld from a plot.

Hooks early Episode 2, when the writing lessons turn into something the professor cannot stop reading. Six episodes, no filler.

Adults slowly leaving the wrong lives, and almost nothing happens on purpose. Thirty-two half hours built from small conversations and the logistics of ending a four-year relationship you are already out of. The same commitment to letting a scene be about nothing. Difference: One Spring Night is warm where this is cold, and its stillness is affection rather than avoidance.

Slow start Episode 4, once both families are involved. Before that it is glances and pharmacy small talk.

Two people failing at life, told at the pace of actually failing at life. Jeon Do Yeon and Ryu Jun Yeol play exhaustion as something physical, the writing never offers them a shortcut, and it is barely plotted by design. Difference: Lost has no genre packaging at all, so there is no thriller shape promising a reveal that never comes.

Slow start Episode 4, when the two leads stop circling each other and finally talk. The first three are deliberately bleak.

The specific exhaustion of a life that is fine and unbearable at once. Sixteen hours of three siblings commuting, with four opening episodes of close to nothing, and then the real subject arrives. Son Suk Ku's drunk stranger is the best thing in either show's register. Difference: Liberation Notes has no mystery and no marriage service, and it says its thesis out loud.

Slow start Episode 3, once Mr Gu starts drinking with Mi-jeong. Before that it is deliberately airless.

The other cold miniseries about being watched, and it moves. Twenty years, three actresses, one woman, and cruelty used as structure rather than atmosphere. Difference: Mask Girl escalates constantly and hands you somebody to follow, which is precisely what this refuses to do.

Slow start Episode 3, when the lead is recast and the show reveals it is a relay race across three actresses rather than one story.
