Same writer, same director, same faith in ordinary goodness. Park Hye Ryun and Oh Choong Hwan together again, on a girl who spends fifteen years on an island and comes back wanting to sing, and the show's engine is a household of people quietly protecting each other. Park Eun Bin is the reason to watch. Difference: it fumbles the move to Seoul badly, and the abuse plot it takes on is heavier than anything here.

Hooks early Episode 2, once she is off the island and actually singing.

The same premise with the ability moved to touch. A young man reads memories by contact and chases a fatal apartment fire everyone involved is lying about, using the gimmick to withhold context rather than hand over answers. Same mix of warm ensemble and cold institutional cover-up. Difference: the trauma is personal and specific to the leads, so the tone is more melancholy and much less funny.

Hooks early Episode 1. The fire and the ability are established at once.

Lee Jong Suk in the version with the throttle wide open. A surgeon pulled inside her father's webtoon, a hero who works out he is written, and four opening episodes with more invention than most shows manage in sixteen. Same appetite for a rule that reshapes the plot. Difference: it is a thriller with real violence in it, and the back half breaks its own rules where this one keeps them.

Hooks early Episode 1. She is pulled into the webtoon before the first hour is out.

If the courtroom half was what held you. Cold cases solved across a twenty year radio link, plotted more tightly than anything else on the site, and driven by the same idea: knowing a crime is coming and having no admissible way to prove it. Difference: romance stays in the margins, and the institution is the antagonist rather than the workplace.

Hooks early Episode 1. The walkie-talkie premise is set up and paid off inside the first hour.

Same director, supernatural romance turned up to full volume. Oh Choong Hwan shooting a hotel for ghosts with the most confident visual language of his career, and the same structure of episodic cases inside a long romance. Difference: the Hong sisters wrote it, so the wit is sharper and the sentiment is bigger, and the male lead is the only reasonable person in the building.

Slow start Episode 3, once the hotel staff get histories of their own.

A crime that arrives by phone, and no filler at all. A kidnapping call, a contract marriage and twelve episodes that move faster than a romance drama has any right to, with the sign language premise genuinely used. Same shape of a couple solving a case they are personally inside. Difference: the tone is cold thriller rather than gentle, and it over-explains itself in the back half.

Hooks early Episode 1. The kidnapping call happens immediately and the marriage plot is running by minute twenty.
