A 1986 detective chasing a serial killer falls through a tunnel into 2017, and for seven episodes it is nearly as good as Signal. The premise is used properly: a competent policeman whose methods are thirty years obsolete, played for comedy and then for loss. Then the back half gets careless, the cast start missing what you worked out two episodes earlier, and it should have ended at twelve. Where it does keep faith is its own rulebook, which holds for all sixteen hours, and that is more than most of these manage. Watch Signal first, then this.
