Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim
낭만닥터 김사부Checked and re-read
The best medical drama Korea has made and it is not close. Han Seok Kyu plays a surgeon who chose a country hospital over a career, and the show is about competence as a moral position rather than about who is dating whom. The per-episode ratings barely wobble across the whole twenty-episode run. The hospital politics get repetitive and the romance is the least interesting thing in it, and neither costs it much.
An eccentric, triple board-certified virtuoso surgeon leaves a top job in Seoul and ends up at a provincial hospital, where he mentors young doctors.
Hooks early Episode 1. The operating theatre and the ethics are both live inside the first hour.
