A Korean Odyssey
화유기Checked and re-read
The Hong sisters rewriting Journey to the West as a contract between a demon and the woman who can see ghosts, made under a production so troubled it had to apologise on air. Lee Seung Gi and Cha Seung Won are having an enormous amount of fun and the mythology is the most interesting thing the pair have written. It takes five episodes to become watchable and the effects work is rough in places you will notice. The back half is stronger than the front, which is the reverse of the usual problem here.
A self-serving mythical creature's bid for invincibility backfires when he finds himself at the mercy of a woman who can see otherworldly beings.
Slow start Episode 5, once the contract between them is actually binding.
